Lip augmentation often involves far more than simply adding volume. DEJAMO treated this wonderful client for the first time on Friday. She came to us with two main goals for her lips: 1) Dr Ali to assess lumps on the top lip present since old filler performed elsewhere a number of year ago 2) Address natural asymmetry of the bottom lip After careful assessment and a 20 minute numbing period, we got to work with both of these goals. The lumps themselves were thankfully not granulomas, and rather just small boluses of filler placed slightly too superficially. Although dissolving with hyalase is often treatment of choice for such lumps, we opted for isolated extraction of the filler. As expected we were able to extract the visualised filler successfully with minimal trauma. As for the bottom lip, our clients right side sat slightly lower and when smiling dropped further. We focused on building up volume in the left lower lip and also the lateral most part do right bottom tubercle. Our client was over the moon with the results with a far more balanced bottom lip and smoother top lip. This wonderful client came to us wanting to address some asymmetry in their chin. We were limited to only 1ml for this session so focused on elongating the chin centrally. We also added some more volume to her right side to balance out the asymmetrical left side. All injections were deep periosteal using #juvederm #volux . Relaxing these lines and preventing etching is one of our most popular treatments at @dejamo.clinics 🤍 Allergan advises a standard treatment of 20 units total for the glabella complex (4 units in 5 injection points). It is always important to treat the patient in front of you, and here we use 8 units rather than 4 in the procerus muscle, 4 units in each medial corrugator, and we felt our patient only required 2 units superficially in the tail of the corrugators. Lots of new followers here over the last month so just wanted to touch base with everyone and talk about this journey so far. 18 months ago, whilst working full time as an NHS doctor, I took the jump and started my own business in aesthetics. Balancing 50-60 hour work weeks, with accommodating clients + organising big clinic days was not easy in the slightest, and I can now see why it’s so easy for small business owners to burn out. At the end of July I finished my full time NHS contract and now I am currently picking up shifts as a locum in the NHS, usually in acute or emergency medicine. No matter how well business continues to go, I know for sure I will always want to work in the NHS even if it’s only once or twice a week. Aesthetics really gives you that freedom to practice as a doctor in the NHS because you love what you do, as opposed to a means to pay the bills. This time last year I distinctly remember doing 12 hour orthopaedic surgical oncalls (14 hour day including commute) then getting home to do late evening anti-wrinkle injections and lip filler for patients 🤯 Safe to say that life is still just as busy, BUT way more sustainable. Fast forward to now, as we pass the 1000 procedure mark, as well as holding weekly clinic days at @dejamo.clinics , I am working full time for Europes largest Laser & Injectables company in multiple sites across Surrey, performing 100’s of procedures each month. Building experience , confidence and competence with every treatment I do. The aesthetics industry is one of the fastest growing industries globally and it can be an extremely vicious , lonely place at times.
